    • Technical Analyst/Help Desk Specialist

      Think Tank Inc. has a requirement for a Technical Analyst/Help Desk Specialist  responsible for providing technical support of the National Weather Service (NWS), Community Hydrologic Prediction System (CHPS) implementation of the Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) software operating at (13) River Forecast Centers (RFCs) across the nation.  The FEWS/CHPS system is a highly modular, highly configurable, and loosely coupled Java and XML-based infrastructure. 

      The Technical Analyst/Help Desk Specialist will provide support in the form of problem tracking, problem analysis and resolution, and technical guidance for CHPS issues reported by the RFCs.  This support can be provided by action taken on an RFC computer system, direct communication to RFC staff, or advice and instructions.  Communication may include direct phone conversations, e-mail, or software documentation. 

      The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the Linux operating system, XML, client-server implementations, and software configuration techniques are necessary.   Understanding of techniques involving automated workflow operations, interactive user interfaces, and relational data stores are required.  Strong oral and written communications skills are required as the duties involve regular interaction with other NWS HQ support staff and RFC field staff.  Initial knowledge of the FEWS and CHPS software system is not required, but the candidate is expected to acquire specific knowledge quickly.  Formal and ad-hoc training will be provided.   

      Bachelor's Degree in a technical field with a minor or experience in a physical science is desired.
